Tissue Modeling Core


Led by Dr. Paul Okunieff (Chair, Radiation Oncology) and working with the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Biorepository, the UF Tissue Modeling Core (TMC) is dedicated to building a robust, well-annotated biorepository of tissue samples from a racially and ethnically diverse patient population within the UF CaRE² Center Catchment Area. The samples in this biorepository are available to Center investigators for current and future studies. The UF TMC works synergistically with the TMCs housed at FAMU (Dr. Hernan Flores-Rozas) and USC (Dr. Bodour Salhia) to achieve the following primary aims:

AIM 1: Provide histopathologic materials and technical guidance regarding tissue use to the CaRE² scientific projects.
AIM 2: Make available an inventory of biologic specimens for CaRE² investigators for scientific projects and develop a common database for tissue access.
AIM 3: Ascertain the feasibility of developing infrastructure at FAMU for a tissue repository.
